The first major multi-game fighting game tournament ever held in Houston, Texas back in 2001 at the University of Houston UC Games Room arcade. At the time, Texas Showdown was created by then Shoryuken.com admin Javier Moreno and then UC Games Room employee Chris Chou after running successful events for Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Capcom vs SNK. The result was an event that brought in over 100 players from Texas and beyond. Little did we know, this would be the start of a multi year tradition and counting!
